Updated review as app has improved
App has improved greatly and i love being able to record shows and skip the ads bonus for then being able to watch a recorded show from the same point in a different tv. Now this is where the app missed a 5 star review. It’s easier to fast forward, Erwin and go to an exact point using Apple TV. Using the the app as a remote when casting you can’t see where you are skipping to. A 30 sec fast forward button would really help

Eir’s Struggles & Troubles
Eir have had some struggles and troubles recently with customer services and WiFi but over the few months I’m satisfied with using eir’s service as it has improved over the past few months and I am pleased to say that you should reconsider eir as your provider for a PTSN Line this works if you have more than one phone socket in your house like me and opt for there tv if your interest in it you won’t be all disappointed with it’s service So should you (Avoid it) (Consider it) (Shortlist it) or should you go right ahead and (Buy it) I’d say Shortlist it if you previously has issues with eir’s service or tv but if you buy it in a (WiFi & TV) Bundle you kinda get so much off your bill so I’d Say GO RIGHT AHEAD AND BUY IT

Don’t bother
The eir app only has the eir sport channels and tg4 and even on tg4 they can’t show have the programs. The indicate in the description above that rte and others are available but in the small print tell you they are not. eir is a terrible provider and gets away with their deception. When I signed up you got the BT sport package which was one of the reasons I signed up but then they canceled that too. Cowboys is the only word I have for them.

I’ve had the app installed on an Apple TV box for the last 4 days and I’ve had numerous issues - the channels list does not work, the TV guide is not populated, the app hangs... and it’s not an internet issue as I have a good DSL line with 70+ MBps. HELP...

Apple TV App running like a dog
The Apple TV Eir app is terrible which means I need to start watching my TV from my phone. It just hangs, impossible to find the recording function. No issue with any others apps so it is an Eir issue.

Appalling
Using this on the Apple TV box - whenever I use this there are issues with the broadband. My son can’t play his PS4 online when I’m watching tv through the eir app, as the lagging in the game is so bad. It’s and “either/or” situation - it’s fine when I’m watching through the Prime app or Now TV, it’s just the eir app that’s causing the issue. It’s really frustrating.

I am surprised Apple is letting this horrible app on its App Store. I have never managed to get it working on any device. My iPad which my account says is registered with the app constantly says ‘device limit exceeded’. When I login into my account (doesn’t work on Apple devices!) and try to remove my iPad I get ‘sorry, unknown error’. On Apple TV things are much worse. The app says I am not in Ireland and therefore can’t watch anything. Avoid this app and spare yourself the hassle.

Worse than it used to be
I recently updated the Eir App. It used to have all the channels that were on the TV including RTÉ, BBC , Channel 4 and the other terrestrial channels. Almost all of them have disappeared. EIRs service is getting worse and worse.
That said, Amazon Prime is now free for 12 months with my normal Eir TV package but not on this Eir App.

Worse than useless.
If you want hours of utter annoyance, frustration, and hassle, then this is the app for you.
It is easily the very worst app I have ever encountered.
It breaks ever year as rugby season starts.
Sneakily, the company never inform you of its own failings.
The log in just says “invalid login”... making you doubt your correct password and log in.
But the fault lies with eir, not you !!
It’s been broken since October 18, and, there is no date for rectification.
Appalling.

Badly needs an update
It mostly works but could desperately do with an update to support iPhone 10/X etc screen sizes. That should not take years but days.
Also, sometimes casting to Chromecast will randomly stop working for a few days and then start working again.

Most frustrating app ever
This app is awful and eir are a disgrace for misleading their customers into buying a package in which you can watch sports channels. It never works and the odd time it does it works for like two minutes, teasing you before crashing and ruining your night. This sort of stuff is way too common with eir I'm cancelling my subscription and I recommend everyone else to do the same.

Casting is a joke
App is like something designed in early years of App Store that hasn’t been updated since. Casting is a mess. Who knows when it will work. Says it’s casting but screen on tv is just blank. Casting works on all other apps. From a search online this is a common enough issue. Seems like an app on life support from Eir.

Infuriating!!!
PLEASE UPDATE THIS APP AND WHILE YOU’RE AT IT AN IMPROVEMENT IN CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD GO A LONG WAY.
App is working fine on my iPhone which is ok when on the move but when at home I can’t cast via chromecast. Have tried to get answers from various channels in Eir customer service only to be constantly fobbed off to another dept. The latest I got was from Eir’s main customer service saying he thinks there is an issue with the app and it needs to be updated.
From reading other reviews these issues have been ongoing for a while now which makes the whole thing farcical. I’ve been afraid to try and switch to my iPad (slightly bigger screen and all that) to watch but from reading reviews this could lead to being locked out on both.

Poor casting
This app was great for four months of chromecasting Premier league and Champions league matches to my 43 incher TV. Now it won’t play ball. I am suffering eye strain from watching the action on my tiny iPhone. And guess what technical support at eir give you NO support and the last contact was downright rude. Poor, poor, poor.

Device swap and casting needs fixing
Two devices allow. Fine but when I tried to remove one and add another you are told after removing one that your swaps are done and you can’t add the new device for a month. Casting with IOS device worked once now no matter what I do I just get the error ‘can’t load media’. Frustrating app that needs improvement.

Terrible!
I have two different broadband accounts with Eir and I can’t log in to Eir sport on either of them even tho it comes in the package as standard. When I attempt to log in on either account it says either “there is something wrong with your account” or “monthly device swap used”. With regards to the latter, the last time a device was used on that account was 3rd November so that’s nonsense! Appalling service!

Chrome cast never works, app rarely works
I have tried to use this app to stream ANY sporting event for the past 4 weeks and have never managed to get chrome cast to work. Keeps giving an error saying cannot load media. I have tried all troubleshooting errors, re-installing, reconnecting my chrome cast and phone to the network, updating os, it just has never worked. Very rarely the streams will play on my phone only. Worst streaming app I’ve ever encountered.

The app works and you can watch the games which is great but it doesn’t support landscape! Therefore, if I connect my phone to the Apple TV then it comes in sideways! Please fix this!

Eirsport App
Wanted to watch my sports on a larger iPad screen but directed to device management as I had too many devices on the services. Fair enough so then followed the de-registration of the iPhone I didn’t want on and tried then to log in on the iPad . No dice. Informed I had completed my monthly swap and I ended up being locked out of the app on both devices. Infuriating!! So thought let’s try the website but that then says “Hey you’re on a IOS device - try our app instead” and no other option. Nearly lost control at that stage. Mind boggling stupid!!!!!

Shocking app from an awful company
Since signing with Eir me and my husband where lied to at the shop we signed our contract, the shop assistant told us it with take max ten working days to have it installed in our house it ended up taking four weeks. The WiFi wouldn’t connect to our PlayStation, when we called Eir they told us that it wasn’t possible to connect a PlayStation 4 to the type of WiFi package we had, we contacted them again several months later about another issue and asked about the PlayStation connection again and were told they send us a new WiFi box, the box arrived by a courier from a separate company to Eir we had no idea how to install the WiFi box. The sky sports package doesn’t actually carry all the sky sports channels, and my husband has been unable to watch several shows including soccer Saturday and NFL redzone. The tv quality is also depended on the WiFi and goes in and out and sometimes stops working completely during live tv. Also the scheduling on the guide is usually wrong and we have recorded shows following the schedule and upon watching them have found it was the wrong shows. A company you would never want to associated with.

Can’t believe how Eir can offer such a terrible app to its customers. The app on the iPhone frequently gives you log in errors (wrong credentials) even if you’ve logged in before. You’ve to create a new account which gets you locked in and as a result you can only call the eir sport customer service which is utterly useless. You’re on hold for ages and no one responds to your calls. The developer, as well as service provider, are to blame for the disgusting service despite their customers paying premium rates for the service. It’s a disgrace how Eir gets away with such “service”!

App is good overall:
1. Crashed from time to time, and I used up a device swap as I had to reinstall on my iphone to overcome crash at startup.
Edit: contacted the email support and received great help, no crashes since.

Rubbish. Reset password locks account for 24hours
Who built this cr*p?! Forgot password so reset it but still couldn’t sign in.
Phoned help desk and got told that when you reset the password the account is locked for 24 hours until the system updates. I mean seriously Eir, come on! Not even banks do that!!!

Utter rubbish and urgently needs fixing.
The apps basic functionality of watching the sport channels works fine. Chromecast is completely broken on this app, it worked the first time and has never worked since, always displaying “Can’t load media” error. The biggest and debilitating problem is the device allowances. If you delete and reinstall the app you end up using one of your device allowances and since I deleted and reinstalled the app a couple of times in a vain attempt to fix the chromecast error I am now locked out of the app and unable to watch sports. Really really needs fixing!!

Ipad version keeps crashing. So delete and install? No, because it treats that as a device swap so you are locked out till next month.
And the program guide? Try to see what’s on after midnight tonight and you have to change date... and the guide shows you what’s on at midnight tomorrow, so you have to scroll back 23 hours. I mean... that’s bloody child’s play. Absolute rubbish!!

Terrible chromcast bugs
Utter shait at chromcasting. You get the chromcast button when your watching something but it doesn't cast, just tells you that no media is selected when clearly there is. No issues with my chromcast as it works fine with all other apps from all my other devices. So process of illumination means it's the eir sport app.

Not functional - maintenance
For the last two weeks (May 2017) the app launches to a screen saying 'Our app is currently under maintenance. We'll be back soon'. I have not been prompted to enter any login details or anything and I have tried to re-download so this appears to be a systemic issue. The app is useless in its current state.

Very poor app. Never works for games which should be one of its main functions. Video playback error is not an acceptable response over a 6 month period on multiple platforms and devices.
On the positive it is a good to guide to check what's on now and next on their channels, anything further seems too technical!

I try registering, have an eir account but keeps saying my email address is already registered which I know it is not. I tried registering with my other email address and same thing happened.
Why bring out an app that does not work? Especially when charging people to use eir sport so people can see sport they cannot as app does not work.
If I could have would have given this heap of junk 0 stars. Wonder if eir will ever fix this, their customer service almost non existent., they are rude to customers, lie to them at times, fleece some.

Does not work on iPhone 6
Pure waste of time downloaded app and keep getting a message about provisioning. It does not work. I can't be bothered calling them either to be passed from pillar to post for something that should be tested and should work from get go. An extra €5 euro p/m this what a joke.

Worked....eventually
Couldn't log in even though was able to log into the My Eir app. Got chatting to an Eir rep who advised me to call Eir Sports directly. I didn't bother but it seemed to resolve itself later. App looks good and streaming quality over WiFi is constant.
