My Alexa is linked to my FireStick TV so I can use it as a speaker for my pc screen although whenever I start playing it the announcement “playing from my FireStick” comes out loud, this is annoying (specially at night) and apparently there is no fix for it. Such a simple think should be able to be disabled.

Frustrating!
These Alexa devices are beyond frustrating to use. This evening, as usual, I had to ask multiple times for a simple cooking timer (7 to be exact, last night was 11 times, 2 nights before it only took 3 tries, woohoo). My record so far was asking 35 times to turn off my kitchen lights. At that point it honestly became an experiment to see just how useless this thing really was! I was not disappointed 🤣🤣🤣

They build so much accessibility into the app they forget to fix it when it is broken. No nobody can look at the list of Kindle books in the library as it crashes the app for updates and no fix yet.

Will not play music when asked. Most annoying. It decides what to play. It will find the album but won’t play it. I’m using Apple Music which works perfectly on my phone but hopeless with Alexa.

App has not worked in two months
I have an iPhone 13 mini and this app seems to be completely incompatible with it. Spotify stopped working on my Alexa and when I followed the instructions to fix the issue, the screen just turned black. I’ve tried everything to fix this issue including spending an hour on the phone to Amazon and never getting a callback that was promised. I now can’t access any of my lists because the app is useless. That the main function for me, music and lists. Why else would I even have an Alexa?

Alexa won’t shut up
Why is there no option to get Alexa to not talk unless spoken to. Every times device connects, it gives an unnecessary message “now connect to” and I can’t get it to stop saying that. Even after turning all notifications and announcements setting it still won’t shut up.

There are already several days I’m trying to connect my Spotify to Alexa but every time I select Spotify what I see is a blank screen, if I select Apple Music, for example, the next steps to connect it shows up but not for Spotify. I purchased this Alexa and it was a very good product untill I decided I wanted to link my Spotify with the Alexa echo dot I got it linked after many attempts over 3 years and then once I got it I asked my Alexa to play Spotify and it continued to tell me that it wasn’t yet linked but it was in fact linked but would not play but kept saying to link it is linked and i am absolutely disgusted this should be working and by the legal act of 2007 I’ve a right to a refund repair or replacement I and shocked and disappointed with my purchase

Very difficult app to navigate - Not user friendly
The app is poorly laid out, too many options and settings which are buried within more menus. If i need to change a setting on my alexa i usually have to use google to find out how to do so first. For example what is a skill supposed to mean? Too much nonsense everywhere in the app. Also what is Drop in? Just say video call and then i will know what it means straight away without having to research it first on google.

App is easy to use when it opens. I’ve deleted the app twice and re-downloaded it and it will not open first time. I have to close the app and re-open it two or three times for the app to open.

Poor interface
The main thing I want to use the app for is to manage and configure skills. This is far more difficult than it should be. The interface is almost entirely focused on pushing new skills in your face - trying to review and manage the ones you have is difficult and time consuming.

I keep getting an unhelpful reply stating to “try again later” when I try to add a child to the household (a very necessary step for the echo dot). When I try later, it’s no different. A few suggestions in its place about what to try to fix the issue when this happens would be more useful than the same useless message

Useless device
We are based in Ireland and so far the Alexa echo 8 cannot answer most of the simple questions asked, it thinks the device is in the US even though we set the correct location in Ireland. It doesn’t recognise a lot of locations, businesses, websites or places of interest in Ireland. We’ve tried to figure out what the problem is but so far everyone that tried to rectify the problems cannot seem to get it to recognise we’ll known places or shops in Irrland. We also failed To get the web Calling function set up. We bought this fir our 80 yr old mum. We all have google home devices and they work brilliantly but we got the echo show fir it’s video function but it’s useless if it cannot recognise its location and relevant services, businesses etc in Ireland. Can anyone help because maybe we’re missing something very simple????

Entertaining not yet useful
Whatever research based Alexa uses the result she renders when you ask a knowledge question can be entertaining. I would assume by default Alexa uses Wikipedia and as a result, when I asked Alexa who won the American election, as I couldn’t follow anymore anything on tv, and Alexa answered. The last president who won the American election is George Washington Bush.
As I said, entertaining; not yet useful. Glad there are some « skills » we can use for specific needs.

This is was a great app but for some reason now when I go into the app it is just the blue background. The only time it changes is when I say “Alexa”. Please please fix this or tell me how to fix it. Until then this will be one star and it will be five when fixed. Thank you for your time.

Bloody annoying
Location is set to the middle of nowhere despite each individual device being set to the correct city. Removed all devices, uninstalled, reinstalled - complete waste of time. Updating locations in the web interface is a different disaster story. Unnecessary frustration.

Whilst I like the idea of having a somewhat clever internet connected friend, I mainly use Alexa to lien to internet radio or play a podcast from my iPhone.
But the amount of times Alexa gets it wrong by playing the wrong station makes the experience a little less likely that I would recommend it.

Device chose wrong language default
My new device chose Spanish as the default and while I have managed to change the audio to english, I cannot change the written text. Very frustrating and settings not clear at all

Very poor at hearing my commands
The most important feature, listening to commands is very poor. It does not hear you. Google mini hears me in the other room and Alexa still does not hear me unless I yell. Google
Mini is much smarter in terms of conversation semantics and answering to requests.
In terms of sound, Alexa is better, but once the volume is past 5 it does not hear you unless you go so close that you might as well press its buttons for stuff like Volume.
I did all the calibrations, ... it’s just inferior to Google mini and to what it is supposed to be- answering and understanding commands- it’s the main feature.

I’m have 2 dots and sometimes the app shows them and sometimes it only shows one.
I can’t set an alarm on one without it adding the alarm to the other. That is just one example of why this app is rubbish. I cannot count the amount of times it’s crashed on me.

Hopelessly poor voice recognition
For only the truly gullible is this thing a useful gadget. Its inability to recognise the simplest of one of its own commands renders it all but useless. It’s ability to drop the signal / call on a “Drop in” call is beyond belief. It’s inability to hear and recognise ( consistently ) one of the two names of which it has knowledge is absolutely maddening. Buy one of the competing products, any of the competing products, just don’t buy this one.

I feel like Alexa has gotten worse. She never picks up what I say. Still goes off randomly.
Still have the worst timer experience ever and basically only thing I use it for. Haven’t found a skill worth keeping. Tells you go this app way to often. The app is buggy and not a native experience on iOS.

Fantastic app
Love the app and getting better and better all the time. I’m in to my second year of using Alexa and the app, love the routines and lists, just word of warning you need good data connection on your phone if you intend to use shopping lists and deleting items as you go.

Buggy and crashes regularly
This app has so much potential. Adding items to a grocery list with the echo at home is fantastic. However, trying to tick them off on this app while shopping is slow and buggy. The app freezes multiple times everytime I go shopping. A stand alone lists app would be great instead.
